Change Mac display settings with one keyboard shortcut
macOS does not provide one built-in shortcut for arrangement, resolution, refresh rate, and the main display. DeskCommit puts those controls in one palette behind Control–Shift–D.
The short answer
Press ⌃⇧D to open DeskCommit from anywhere. Choose the display and setting, preview the result, then press Return to apply and continue or Shift–Return to apply and close.
What the shortcut can change
- Arrange external displays and choose the main display
- Choose a resolution available to the connected Mac and display
- Choose an available refresh rate
- Apply a semantic choice such as default resolution, best HiDPI, or highest refresh rate to every display
- Save a setup and manually restore it when the matching displays are connected

A keyboard-first workflow
- Open. Press ⌃⇧D while you are working.
- Choose. Select a display, then change arrangement, resolution, refresh rate, or Main.
- Preview. Review the pending display state before committing it.
- Apply. Press Return. Use Command–Z in the open palette to undo the last applied change.
What happens if a mode does not work
Low-resolution changes use a 15-second confirmation window and revert if you do not confirm them. Applied changes can also be undone while the palette is open. DeskCommit does not claim that every display mode works with every hardware combination.
