Save and restore a Mac display arrangement
macOS can arrange connected displays, but it does not provide a named library for restoring arrangement, resolution, refresh rate, and the main display together. DeskCommit saves those display settings as a setup you restore manually.

The short answer
Set up your displays, open DeskCommit with ⌃⇧D, and press Command–S. Name the setup and save it. Later, reconnect the same set of displays, press Command–P, choose the matching setup with the arrow keys, and press Return to apply it.
What macOS already provides
In System Settings, choose Displays and use Arrange to position connected displays. You can also choose available resolutions and other options for each display. Apple notes that the available controls vary by Mac and display.

What a saved setup includes
- The relative arrangement of the connected displays
- Each display's resolution and refresh rate
- Which display is Main
- A name you choose, such as “Desk” or “Studio”
A setup matches the exact connected display set. It is not a window layout, and it does not store app positions or Spaces.
Save the current Mac display arrangement
- Arrange the displays and select resolution, refresh rate, and Main.
- Press ⌃⇧D to open DeskCommit.
- Press Command–S, enter a recognizable setup name, and save it.
- Open DeskCommit Settings if you need to rename or remove saved setups later.
Restore it when you need it
- Connect the same displays used by the saved setup.
- Press ⌃⇧D, then Command–P.
- Use ↑ and ↓ to choose a matching setup.
- Press Return to apply arrangement, resolution, refresh rate, and Main together.
Restoration is manual. DeskCommit does not automatically apply a setup when a display is connected.

Limits and safety
- DeskCommit cannot make an undetected display appear or repair a cable, dock, adapter, DisplayLink, or bandwidth problem.
- A mode must still be available for the connected Mac and display.
- Low-resolution changes use a 15-second confirmation window and revert if they are not confirmed.
- With the palette open, Command–Z undoes the last applied display change.
